5 Way to Help You Stay Positive During Lockdown

Each January we tend to enter the year with a number of goals, resolutions and exciting plans for the year ahead.  Whilst we may have got off to a good start, it’s fair to say 2020 has not been the year any of us could have imagined. Rather than following our structured daily routines we have been propelled into an era of uncertainty and life like we have never experienced before.  Not knowing when we can resume work, school or life as we knew it can be daunting. Together with having to distance ourselves from our loved ones, the uncertainty can have a negative impact on our mental well-being.

Our team to Loved Lehenga have put together our 5 top tips to help you stay positive and feeling your best during lockdown!

1.  Exercise

Try to incorporate at least 15 minutes of exercise into your daily routine. As well as helping your overall health, regular exercise reduces stress levels and releases endorphins, your body’s natural feel-good hormones. Some exercises you may like to try include walking, running, skipping and dancing.

2.   Reading

Use your extra time during lockdown to read those books you’ve never had the time to read. There are many great lifestyle and business books where you can learn valuable lessons to fully equip you for when life returns to a state of normality. It is also nice to squeeze in some fictional stories as they let you escape the troubles of reality and enter a distant fancy world.

3. Trying a new recipe

In our normal busy schedules, we often resort to takeaways and ready-meals as they are more convenient and not as time-consuming as cooking ourselves. It is no secret however that these may not be the healthiest of options! Why not use this opportunity to try out new recipes? Not only can you ensure your meals are full of nutritious ingredients but many studies have shown that learning a new skill gives us a feeling of accomplishment and can have a positive effect on our  mental well-being.

4. Keep in touch with loved ones

Having to stay home can make us feel lonely and isolated from the outside world. We are lucky to live in a world where technology makes it easy to keep in touch with our loved ones. Speak to your friends regularly to see how they are coping. Why not schedule a video call to get a group of people together at once? Its great to see what others have been up to and reminds us that we are in this together.

5. Help the community

As the weeks have gone on, we have seen this period of uncertainty bring out the best in people as they show compassion and help their local communities. Whether it is giving to a food bank, donating online or picking up some necessities, every little helps. Studies have shown that when we give to others, our body releases endorphins and makes us feel good too!

We hope these tips will keep you feeling positive over the coming weeks. Check back regularly for our latest blogs on fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
